FAQ

What is OnShelf?

OnShelf is a curated global marketplace where independent studios, designers, and manufacturers from around the world bring their work together in one edited destination. Every piece is chosen for how it lives in a space — and how it works alongside everything else in the edit.

How are products curated on OnShelf?

Every piece on OnShelf is selected not just for individual quality, but for how it works alongside everything else in the edit. We work with independent studios and manufacturers worldwide — and every product earns its place regardless of price point. A $30 object goes through the same curatorial lens as a $5,000 one.

Who are the studios and makers behind OnShelf's products?

OnShelf partners with independent studios, designers, and manufacturers from around the world — from Tokyo to Madrid to Seoul. Some are established names. Many are studios you haven't heard of yet. That's part of the point. You can explore our Featured Studios.

Why does OnShelf carry such a wide price range?

Because good design isn't defined by price. Our edit spans from accessible objects to investment pieces — what ties them together is the eye behind the selection, not the number on the tag.

Why do prices on OnShelf change?

As a global marketplace working with independent studios and manufacturers across multiple countries, prices on OnShelf may fluctuate from week to week. Currency exchange rates, shipping costs, fuel prices, and seller updates can all affect what you see. It's the nature of sourcing globally and working directly with makers in real time. If something catches your eye — don't wait.

Why is there no sales tax on my order?
Currently, OnShelf only charges sales tax for orders shipped to California, USA. That means you can enjoy a tax-free final price no matter where you're located! If our policy changes in the future, we’ll be sure to update you right away.

Can OnShelf be used for commercial projects?

Absolutely. We've worked with interior designers, hospitality groups, home staging companies, and retailers across multiple countries. For project-scale sourcing and wholesale pricing, visit our Wholesale & Partnership.
